Came across a b&w version of this image a couple years ago in the Walker’s collection catalog Bits & Pieces Put Together To Present A Semblance Of A Whole. It was part of an exhibit called Tokyo: Form and Spirit in 1986. I loved it it but forgot to look further.
Today an even better color version appears in a piece on the Walker’s Design Blog about Mildred Friedman who organized the exhibit Tokyo: Form and Spirit, which featured the work of designers such as Arata Isozaki, Tadanori Yokoo, Toyo Ito, Tadao Ando, and Eiko Ishioka. Now I’m even more curious.
I think I’ll write to the archivist and see about exhibition photos. Hopefully they’ll have some slides. More soon.
Please enjoy the time and space.
